The Kalona Brewing Company Restaurant grew out of the owner’s love for wood-fired, thin crust pizza – alla Napolitana. We use local cherry wood to infuse the pizza with a delicious sweet smokeyness. Our mozzarella is made in-house and we use imported San Marzano tomatoes, the classic pizza tomato.
LOCAL and ORGANIC matter to us
Kalona Brewing Company Co-founders, Ted Nagy and Lew Brewer, have long held the belief that eating local and organic food is best. In our restaurant, the same standard is held. We use organic and local as much as our budget, and the seasons, will allow and we also aim to use 100% non GMO ingredients. We happily use non GMO sunflower fryer oil, which just became available through our purveyors in 2014. We offer locally sourced grass fed burgers, organic chicken, local brats, and salmon. We are excited to be a from scratch kitchen where we hand cut our own french fries, and make our own sauces, soups, ketchup, mozzarella, and pickles in house. It is paramount to our owners and our staff to serve delicious food while supporting organic and/or local producers.

Currently our grass fed beef is from Wallace Farms in Keystone. Some of our other local suppliers include, Friendly Farm in Iowa City, Organic Greens in Kalona, Echollective Farm in Mechanicsville, Kalona SuperNatural in Kalona, Muddy Miss Farms and Dirty Face Creek Farms, both near Hills.
