Our Scratch-Focused Kitchen
The Kalona Brewing Company restaurant grew out of the owners’ love for fresh, local ingredients, and wood-fired, thin crust pizza – alla Napoletana.
Enjoy delicious meals from our scratch kitchen in a warm, comfortable setting. We have all of the comfort food favorites on the menu, plus fine dining dishes created by head chef Oliver Hassman.
Our popular pizzas are baked in a wood-fire oven using local cherry wood to infuse the pizza with a delicious sweet smokiness. Our mozzarella is made in-house and we use imported San Marzano tomatoes, the classic pizza tomato.
Kalona Brewing Company owners and Kalona residents Ted and Becky Nagy, and co-founder Lew Brewer have long held the belief that eating local, organic food is best, whenever possible. In our restaurant, the same standard is held. We use locally sourced foods as much as the menu and the seasons allow, and we also aim to use 100% non GMO ingredients including non-GMO sunflower fryer oil.
We are proud to be a scratch-focused kitchen where we hand cut our own french fries, and make our own sauces, soups, ketchup, mozzarella, and pickles-in house. It is paramount to our owners and our staff to serve delicious food while supporting local producers.
Our local suppliers include in Kalona Organic Greens, Kalona SuperNatural, JimRay Farms (grass-fed beef), Pavelka Points Meats and Ebert Honey.
